Charlie Louth is Fellow of Queen’s College, University of Oxford, where he lectures in German. He is the author of Hölderlin and the Dynamics of Translation (1998) and of many articles on poetry from Goethe to Celan. He is the co-editor of ‘Eine Schwester Kafkas?’ Nelly Sachs in Kontext (2014, with Florian Strob) and A C. H. Sisson Reader (2014, with Patrick McGuinness). He has also published translations of Hölderlin’s Essays and Letters (Penguin, 2009, with Jeremy Adler) and of Rilke’s Letters to a Young Poet and Letter from the Young Worker (Penguin, 2011), and is completing a book on Rilke.
