Elizabeth-Jane Burnett is a UK writer and academic. Her recent poetry collection, Swims (London: Penned in the Margins, 2017), included a poem highly commended in the Forward Prize and was a Sunday Times Best Poetry Book of the Year. Her monograph, A Social Biography of Innovative Poetry Communities: The Gift, the Wager and Poethics (New York: Palgrave, 2017) explores the ways recent poetry scenes operate along a gift economy. She is a regular contributor on poetry and environmental issues for BBC Radio 3 and her nature writing book and memoir The Grassling, A Geological Memoir (London: Penguin, forthcoming 2019) won Penguin Random House’s 2017 WriteNow competition. She is Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing at Newman University, Birmingham.
